Voter Registration Information
The County Clerk is the ex-officio Registration Officer of the County of Kankakee and each person before he or she is qualified to vote at any primary, city, general, township, school, or special election at which any state or county officers are to be nominated or elected must register in person with the County Clerk or a Deputy Registrar.
No person shall be entitled to be registered in and from any precinct unless such person shall by the date of the election next following, reside in the state, county and precinct 30 days, and shall be otherwise qualified to vote at such election. Every applicant who shall be eighteen years of age or over on the day of the next election shall be permitted to register, if otherwise qualified.
The following need not be registered in order to vote:
- Members, spouses and dependents of the armed active service. (Spouses and dependents must be registered if the vote in person at the polling place.)
- Members of the armed services discharged within 60 days prior to said election.
- Members, spouses, and dependents of the Merchant Marine.
